Perea Elementary Bibles and Backpacks Collection

Please buy copies of the Jesus Storybook Bible and/or backpacks to donate to Sam Husband's New City Memphis Ministry in the Klondike Neighborhood for “Preschool Promotion Day” May 20th at Perea Elementary. There will be a box in the main hallway at church to put your items in. Sunday, May 18th is the last day to bring items. Paul Husband will deliver them after church that morning. The backpacks should be simple and small, as they are for Kindergarten age kids. Email Jennifer Monsarrat if you have any questions - jennmonsarrat@gmail.com

Youth Potluck! THIS SUNDAY! 11:15 AM

As a covenant church family, come one, come all to celebrate our graduating seniors and their families, and welcome the rising 6th graders and their families! Come join for food, family, and fellowship! Please bring a side dish and/or dessert to share.

Outreach / Missions

For anyone interested in participating, there will be a zoom call this Sunday night at 8pm to discuss our Missions. During the call, Catalyst  Executive Director Doug Landrum will give an overview of what we will be doing, estimated costs and dates for this October Mission Trip. If you have any questions please contact Michael Joyner.

Communicant’s Class

A “communicant’s class” is a special class designed to help covenant children transition from being, what we call, non-communing members to full communing members of GCC. That means that, not only will they be given all the rights and privileges of full church membership, but they will be admitted participation in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper by the session. It is, most importantly, the time when our covenant children first make a public profession of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul and Ashley will be co-teaching the class on Sunday mornings after worship for five weeks starting June 1st. The Communicant’s Class will take place during the fellowship hour immediately following worship. If you’d like your child to participate, please send Ashley an email at ashley@GCCMemphis.com.

Shelby Farms Hangout with the Baxley’s!

The Baxley’s are coming in town from Colombia and we want to invite everyone to a fun hangout at Shelby Farms with them. Join us on Friday, June 20th at the Pine Lake Pavilion, which is located by the Woodlands playground. There will be some seating in this pavilion, which is located near indoor restrooms, but plan to bring lawn chairs or blankets too. We’ll hang out beginning at 3pm and stay as long as people are having fun!

Feel free to bring picnic food or snacks. There is a grill provided if anyone wants to utilize that.

This link will take you the pavilion on a map.

2 Corinthians Sermon Series: Servants of the New Covenant

This May we will begin a new sermon series from Paul’s second letter to the church at Corinth. Actually, it’s his fourth letter and there’s a complex history of trouble in that church. Praise the Lord for the trouble in Corinth because without it, we would never have this valuable letter from these Servants of the New Covenant.

Our next “Odd Wednesday” Bible Study will take place on May 21st. Men, join us for a bible study from 12 - 1pm at GCC. This study will meet on the first and third Wednesday’s of each month (Get it, “Odd Wednesday’s?”). Bring a lunch and your Bible. We will start promptly at noon and finish promptly at 1 o'clock, so you can get back to work. We will be working our way through the book of Ephesians using R. C. Sproul’s commentary as our guide.

Women’s Bible Study On Break

Women’s Bible study is on break May 21 and 28. We will begin our summer study Entrusted to be Invested (a study of 1 Timothy) on June 4 at 6:15. See Jana Grayson for details.

Coffee Volunteers Needed

Ever wonder where the delicious coffee we all enjoy Sunday morning comes from? This is your chance to find out. The Hospitality Ministry Team needs folks to make coffee! If we have many hands you're only needed 1 to 2 times a quarter. See Hannah Penn and Ginny Gafford for details, training, and questions.

Children’s Message Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed to teach the Children’s Message during the sermon. This is the time when we dismiss our 3 year-olds through Pre-K children from our service to read a bible story and do an activity. No prep is needed ahead of time and all the supplies are provided. You just have to be willing to love our little ones in this way. If you have any questions, please contact Karla Himebook. Click the button below to go to the sign-up genius page to volunteer. There are still several open slots.

Wednesday Evening Activities at GCC:

  • Women’s Bible Study – 6:15 PM - ON BREAK UNTIL JUNE 4th

  • Youth Group – 6:30 PM

  • Choir Rehearsal – 7:30 PM

Weekly Prayer Time at 9AM, Sundays

Pray for One Another

We pray for one another because we are connected in an authentic community of faith. Each day this week, take a moment to pray for some of the people God has planted in our community. Thank God for calling them to be members of our church family. Pray for His help and provision for their needs. Ask Him to encourage and grow them in their faith. If you have an opportunity, take a moment and send them a word of encouragement this week.
